The Mobility, Infrastructure and Energy (MIE) sector accounts for 17.9% of European GDP, which is naturally crucial to the economy. However, these sectors are heavily dependent on the availability of affordable energy sources. As a result of the need to reduce CO2 emissions in these sectors, Europe is experiencing a significant transition to sustainable energy – electricity. Key technological trends ranging from heat pumps, electro-mobility and the replacement of manual work by robotics to increased automation in competitive industry are further increasing the demand for electricity. This increases the need to blend ecosystems by looking for commonly used technologies across MIEs to achieve the desired synergies.
The IMA will define the requirements for system components – sensors, as well as address data acquisition and processing, detection algorithm, data visualization, controls, and architecture requirements that reflect hazard identification and detection. IMA will design and develop an embedded sensor system, implemented on static objects or machines occurring in proximity to humans, which can potentially create hazardous situations. The sensor system will allow the objects to survey and collect data characterizing the human-machine interaction.
